Ok another post

So if you read my last post, i promised to write about my friday night.... here it is.

Friday night, chelsey and I went out to Lai Kwai Fong. It is what we would refer to as "clubbing district". We went once before, I'm not sure if I wrote about it, but it was an INCREDIBLE night.... however on friday, it was as well a really really fun night. It felt like a different atmosphere than the last time, but still a lot of fun. I think it is where all the white people go on the weekends, because you almost feel like you're not in hong kong.

Us getting ready.....

First off, you can drink in the streets. In Hong Kong, the chinese don't really drink all that much. At dinner, the restaurants don't make money of alcohol, they make it off of sea food. Anyways, we go to 7-11 (yea that's right... there's a sev on almost every corner).... and we pick up a couple of tall boys of heiniken or whatever... and we walk around the streets having a couple beers, checking out the people, people watching and meeting fellow travelers.

Us drinking in the streets :)

On friday we ended up voyaging up to a club. I'm not sure what the name of it was, but it was $120 HKD (which = UNDER $20 Canadian) for an OPEN BAR, ALL NIGHT!!!!

It was so fun. We met two guys from London, four from Norway, and a bunch of US-ers and a few Canadians.... it was a blast. I'm going to post a bunch of pics so you guys get an idea of what it was like.

One of the English guys....

OH and i have had my hair cut and dyed (not sure i like the dye job, but MEH, you guys know me....it'll grow/fade ahahaha) anyways here are some of the pics :)

One of the guys who knew a bunch of people from UVIC!

Billy from New Jersey (be proud I remember this stuff!!!)

An INCREDIBLY talented break dancer we met, named......Mark (I think)!

AND

A really nice group of Hong Kong-ers that we were dancing with and having fun closing the bar down with!!!

There are so many more pictures and stuff to say but i don't want to bore all of you, i'm lucky to have the few readers I have...hahaha... so thanks for reading guys, and I really am having such an AMAZING time.... i LOVE it here!!!!!

I feel burn-ed

So yesterday Chelsey and I went to the beach. We had a blast. It's GORGEOUS and feels so tropical. The water is warm, the sun is hot, the sand is soft. We met a couple guys from the states, Ohio to be specific, and hung out with them most of the day. We were there for so long though... too long!!! I am now putting lobsters to shame. I am red, crispy and it hurts to move!!! But it was fun! SO that was sunday....

Saturday we went and met up with some of the university kids that were sponsered to go to Canada. They stayed with my parents for a week I think, and I got to meet them, and talk with them. It was really neat to see another perspective, and even more interesting to hear how they felt about going from Hong Kong to Read Island. I mean, i'm used to the opposite, so it was cool. I'll include a picture of it.....

Last week was a great week. We had so many kids come visit us. We played soccer, played uno, went out, stayed in... it was busy but fun! I can not tell you guys how wonderful it is to have these kids come visit, and want to talk to you.... The best feeling is when they need your help understanding something, and you explain it in a way that they understand, and they get this "eureka" look... i LOVE it!!!!!

Tomorrow is Chelsey's birthday. I'm trying to think of something special to do with her. I think i will take her out to a nice lunch, and then maybe dinner and drinks, but she isn't feeling 100% today, so hopefully she'll be up for it tomorrow.

I feel like i have SO much to fill you guys in on.... .OH last weekend we went to the big buddah!!! IT was amazing...i'll put a picture or two in here of that too :-)....

We also planned a trip to Guilin on mainland china. We're spending two nights in Guilin and then up the LI river, spending two nights in Yang Shou (sorry if the spelling of that isn't right). I'm SUPER SUPER Excited. We are planning on riding our bikes through the rice fields and taking the bamboo rafts to the rice fields. They also have amazing caves and rock climing walls, so I can not wait...BUT i will tell you all about it when I'm back....'cause i don't have pictures or anything to show you yet...but that is in store.

OH and i want to write about friday night, but it's more of a longer story and many pictures, and I have to go teach right now, so we'll save it for later :-)

Ok, lets play catch up....

It's been about a week since I have written.... SORRY!!! I have just been super busy!

So basically this last week has been amazing! We are having a HUGE turnout for kids, from lunch, afterschool, if they have a spare or break, and we are getting requests to come if their teachers are sick...

we are getting so many kids after school that we're staying until about 6 before we can actually kick 'em out :) and at lunches we play sports with the boys. the boys didn't seem too interested in learning English, but playing sports with them, sure helped!!! Now the boys love us, and keep asking us to play with them.

At first they were timid and wouldn't really challenge us in sports, but we kept saying that we are tough, and now they play properly and it's awesome. They are still shocked though. I shot and got a goal, and they all went WOW and clapped, and when i headed the ball, they were all surprised... it is funny!

The whole teaching thing is amazing. The most incredible feeling is when these kids get the "I get it" look...and are trying soooo hard. These kids try so much, so hard... and are doing so well. It's amazing!!!

We are organizing a big soccer game for tuesday after school, and we have a couple lunch dates. We are also trying to get to mainland china, to a small cool town that is not touristy and full of rice fields and locals, and i'm so excited. So hopefully we can make it work.

Part of it is still a little lonely.... No one to call me everyday, or be in love with, but i'm sure that will come with time... in the meantime, i'm really enjoying myself. I enjoy the markets a lot... buying too much, tee hee....

NEW GLASSES!!!!!!

Not the most awesomeness picture, but cute glasses no?

I got them with eye exam for $22 Canadian.... I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!

Ok i know i have a lot of posting and updates to do, and i will tonight... just hold!......

happy 60th Birthday China

So yesterday was the 60th anniversary for China. They had a big parade, and a full day of activities. We had 5 awesome students from the school take us. We walked to the harbor and watched them. It was quite the show!
Here's a picture of us at the fireworks....

In the morning Chelsey and I decided to head over to sham shai po. It is a very poor neighborhood but has a market of electronics and computer stuff. It was really interesting and cool to go, but a little 'junky' and extremely overwhelming. There were SO many people and SO much stuff, that I think both chelsey and I burnt out a little quick...but all was not lost. I did get a cover for my Itouch....

Sorry this is a quick post, but i'm at school and people will be coming to chat shortly :)
